Devious Dookie Begins

Welp, I bought my first project truck in a looonnngggg loooonnnggg while. It's been lingering in the back of my mind, so, I decided to go for it and buy another dually - Devious Dookie - (my wifey named it that :) well the Dookie part. Not sure why though :)- .

It's a 1990 Chevy Silverado r3500 crewcab dually.

Here she is. Have big plans to bag and bodydrop her. Then she'll be beautiful!! :)

Here & Now, Now & Later

Life is such an amazing gift. So little do we stop and think about the small precious moments in our lives. We often think of the glory to glory moments but what about the moments in the mean time? We are all so anxious to achieve the next big ticket item in our lives, we strive to be the best, jumping over hurdles and other people to make it to the top.

There are times in life, when we slow down that we actually get to see the most amazing things happen before our eyes, blossom in a new way, and taken to a deeper level.

I am quiet guilty of running through life and missing those small moments as I'm anticipating the next big moment. I to, run and run, but forget to look where I am going. I to, want to achieve the next big thing in my life, and run the rat race to make something out of myself before the end is near.

However, that is not the way that I 'want' to live life. That is how we are cultured to live life as Americans. Sometimes it just as fun as others think it should be. However, it is rewarding when facing opposition and coming out on top. There is power in endurance, strength in the quietness, and life everlasting (in the Lord).

See we all have a purpose for life. We were created for a divine reason. We were given passion to fuel our dreams, along with desires to keep us motivated. We should be running the race at a pace that we will be able to sustain. We should be striving to make a difference, leave a legacy, and become the people we were called to be. We shall rise, how of the ashes we have come - a beautiful people we are, to continue strong in the pursuit of changing the world.

What difference will you make today?

How will you influence those around you?

Will you fight for the cause, or chase after your own cause?

Will you make it to the end??

Generous Friday

Generosity is the habit of giving freely without expecting anything in return. It can involve offering time, assets or talents to aid someone in need. Often equated with charity as a virtue, generosity is widely accepted in society as a desirable trait.

Generosity is condition of the heart and a reflection of your business

Being generous comes in many forms and varies from individual to individual or business to business. However, have you thought about what being generous from a business standpoint says to the community in which you reside? Furthermore, have you thought about the implications of not being generous?

The impact may be higher than what you initially believe.

Let’s use an example: I deliver a pizza for $11.56 to your place of business. You the owner or employee gives me exact change for the order along with no reply of gratitude or a simple “Thank you”.

Initial response, I would never do business with a business that doesn’t appreciate the simple task that other people perform for them. Secondly, if you the owner/employee do not offer a tip, which speaks volume that you do not care about people as individuals. Therefore, you are probably not a client-centered business. This leads to the begging question of: Why would I be interested in investing in your business if you aren’t willing to invest in me?

However, in comparison, you offer a tip and a thank you. Immediately the roles are reverse. I think to myself. This is an establishment that I would be interested in working with because they care about me, in addition, they would care about you too.

Finally thoughts, if you are business, you should generous with your monies and offer gratuity in the simplest form to those that walk through your doors. In short, if you are generous, you may gain another client that will produce more profit than you could have ever imagined from a $3.00 tip.

Beautiful day with Bethanie and Ortman Photography

In Stillwater Oklahoma, it sure has been scorching hot. However, over the past few days the weather has cooled and we have been able to open our windows to let the house cool down instead of running the air conditioner 24/7. Nevertheless, a couple – Bethanie and Tyson – headed out with me early the other morning for a shoot at the OSU Botanic Gardens. While the morning sun as was on the rise, we were able to capture some beautiful images of Bethanie striking a pose. I had a fantastic opportunity to help Bethanie build on her modeling portfolio. There is nothing more rewarding than when a client gets their images back and simply loves them. When you hear the words “I LOVE THESE!!” it couldn’t bring a bigger smile to any photographers face including my own. It always our goal as a photographer to give the clients what they want, need, and desire from their sessions. They are the backbone of our business and we are happy when they are happy.  Here are a images from Bethanie’s session.

Nikki & Travis Wedding by Ortman Photography

Weddings are wonderful experiences!! That once in the lifetime opportunity to join hands with our significant other and tie the knot. However, there are often times so many emotions that are flowing on that day. Rejoicing in the heart about the joy to come, sadness of leaving one's father/mother but ready to become one with the one they love the most in the world, overwhelming feelings of worry and anxiety - these often come out as a sign of concern wanting to ensure that the Big Day is the Perfect Day, and a sense of relief that the stress will soon be over and the Newly wedded couple will be on their way to the destination of their honeymoon. As I prepare for a wedding, I can't help but to relate emotionally with the party, as they are getting ready. It can be chaotic and a mess but as a photographer that must not get in the way of capturing those true precious moments: even when things are going well; truth be told it will all work out in the end.

As I was standing near the groom, Travis, I was anticipating his response to the first sight of his bride this past weekend. One of my favorite parts is when everyone rises to honor the bride and her father. I can't help but to get teary-eyed with a sense of awe when the bride begins her bridal march down the aisle. That is exactly what happened on this day. The bride, Nikki, was gorgeous! It's the moment she's been dreaming of since she was a little girl. Anticipating the moment when she will be with her groom to be, in his arms, and getting lost in each other's eyes. What a wonderful heartfelt moment!

Are you ready for some Fooottbbbbaaaaallllllll!!!

Stillwater Pioneers from Stillwater, Oklahoma kicked off their high school football season with a scrimmage against Norman and Choctaw. All teams performed very well yesterday on the field. We are looking forward to what the new head coach has in store for this season, as the Pioneers sufferred several losses last season but are looking to gain much ground in what's to come this year. We are excited here in the community about the Stillwater Pioneer Athletic program and looking for some wins this time around. I had the opportunity from Ortman Photography in Stillwater Oklahoma to come out and snap a couple of hikes (I mean photographs) of the team in action. Below are some of the superstars that will be leading the team this year, Alex DeMauro #26 and Kilynn Norris #48. If you'd like to see more of images from the scrimmage, click here!

Brotherly love in Tulsa by Ortman Photography

Good afternoon everyone!! Today is a great day for me as I hope it is for you as well. After a quick outpatient operation of having all 4 wisdom teeth pulled out, I would say that I'm feeling much better! :) The sun is shining, the weather is hot, but all in all, it couldn't be a better day!

Wanted to share my most recent shoot at a popular location in Tulsa, Oklahoma at Woodward Park. Woodward Park is a great location as it provides such a diverse background for many settings and often used for Bridal shots and Engagement photos. With the wooded areas, park benches, bridges over a small creek. It doesn't get much better than that at once specific location.

This particular shoot was of my little sister, Sammie Kaye, for her 20th birthday gift. I mean what a great gift idea, right? Well it was her idea actually; nevertheless, it worked out perfectly for the both of us. She gets to model and have her photo taken while I get to be creative in my own right while capturing those sweet moments.

Overall, it was a great success while we got to spend the day together, have lunch, and play catch up!! She's a great little sister, I love her very much!!

Thank you Sammie Kaye for such a great day!!

If you'd like to see more of her photos they are available here!
